Calendar open for visiting teams
Eternal Anchor wants to invite you to come to Baja and partner with us! Collaborating with visiting mission teams and volunteers is an important aspect of our work. Visitors bring fresh energy and excitement to our programs as you help us provide quality services to the children and young adults at Eternal Anchor. You will also learn about the important work being done to alleviate the suffering caused by disability in the San Quintin Valley.
Our passion is to change negative cultural stigmas related to disability; to collaborate with government and non-governmental agencies to improve access to healthcare, education, and community; and to empower people with disabilities who have been marginalized by society so they can reach their God-given potential. Your presence will bless others and your heart will and perspectives will be changed as your return home with a renewed passion for local and global outreach.
We are currently accepting church teams, both short- and long-term interns, as well as individuals and families. Eternal Anchor also has the capability to host your group, alleviating the need to find safe, secure, and clean housing. Municipal council honors Deborah
Deborah Garcia (second from right), Eternal Anchor’s Director of Equality and Justice, was one of just seven women from the San Quintin Valley to be honored as part of a local International Women’s Day event. Deborah and one other recipient were celebrated as female founders of area non-profits. They were joined by three female physicians in positions of authority in healthcare, a female agronomy engineer, and a leading sports promoter. In presenting the awards, representatives from The Foundational Municipal Council of San Quintin and the Commission of Social Welfare, said that through their leadership, courage, tenacity, and empowerment contribute to a better quality of life and sustainable welfare for the entire San Quintin Valley. “It was such an honor to stand alongside six other empowered women who are committed to improving our valley,” said Deborah. Congratulations, Deborah!
When is a dollar not a dollar?
Everything costs more these days and a dollar just doesn’t go as far as it used to. But we’ve got some exciting news. Until May 31, every dollar you donate to Eternal Anchor’s education program is actually worth two dollars! Thanks to a generous donor who began a $75,000 matching grant challenge last month, this campaign will match dollar-for-dollar every donation to Eternal Anchor’s education program through May 31, 2023, or until $75,000 in matching donations is reached. This will provide the necessary operating funds for our school for an entire year!
Through our donors, children’s lives are being transformed, giving them and their families hope through the education and therapy services they receive at Eternal Anchor’s school. We invite you to consider making a gift of any size to this campaign. Even the smallest amount will make a big difference for the students and their families who experience the power and promise of hope in and through our school. Through Eternal Anchor’s comprehensive disability services program, we partner with 250 families each week, walking alongside them as they raise their children in a high-poverty region with almost no government disability support. Thanks to our supporters that’s 50 more families that received life-changing services than the previous year!

** $75,000 matching grant can fund Eternal Anchor’s school for an entire year!
————————————————————
This past week, a generous donor was moved to begin a challenge campaign that will benefit Eternal Anchor’s special education school. Currently, it takes an annual budget of $150,000 to operate Eternal Anchor’s special education school. This campaign will match dollar-for-dollar every donation to Eternal Anchor’s education program through May 31, 2023, or until $75,000 in matching donations is reached. This will provide the necessary operating funds for our school for an entire year!
I love what David writes in Psalms, “You are faithful to your promises, O my God.” Every day at Eternal Anchor’s school we see the embodiment of God in the joy and determination of the children, the dedication and commitment of our teachers, and in the faithfulness of our donors.
I snapped the photo above as I was leaving Eternal Anchor last week. I saw God’s promise in the sky and was reminded of a verse in Lamentations, “Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for God’s compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.”
Because of Eternal Anchor’s faithful donors, we are filled with gratitude. And through our donors, children’s lives are being transformed, giving them and their families hope through the education and therapy services they receive at Eternal Anchor’s school.
I invite you to consider making a gift of any size. Even the smallest amount will make a big difference for the students and their families who experience the power and promise of hope in and through Eternal Anchor’s school.

Greetings Friends!
You are getting this email because you have been part of the Eternal Anchor family in the last eight years. You are the community of individuals who have given time, money, and prayers and have been a pillar of support since we made the vision a reality in 2014.
When Deborah and I founded Eternal Anchor eight years ago, we had no idea we’d be where we are today. From a passion and conviction to provide a safe, loving home to children abandoned and forgotten, we have seen Eternal Anchor grow into a holistic disability service organization touching hundreds of families each week.
The journey hasn’t been easy. We started with energy to struggle against systemic issues that are prevalent around the globe. In the beginning, we had hope as we grew and saw more and more families receive the critical support they needed. We had hope has our home went from one child to dozens of children rescued from government institutions that had no resources or knowledge to meet their needs.
Eight years later, thousands of lives impacted, and here we are today. Hope continues to prevail, yet Deborah and I are tired. We are passionately committed to the work we do. We love our community. We love the children that have been entrusted to us. We love our team of dedicated staff and volunteers. However, the sacrifices have taken a toll and the work the lays before us is daunting.
Baja California, our home, has the most children in institutions than any other state in Mexico. In our municipality, San Quintin, we are the only option for thousands of children and adults to receive education, therapy and mobility equipment, and other vital disability services. Eternal Anchor now has national recognition for our quality services and for our passion to dismantle the barriers that prevent individuals with special needs from thriving in their homes and communities.
You have been a critical part of this journey. We couldn’t have grown to help so many without your support. We are grateful for every prayer, every penny, every second donated to help us change the narrative of disability in Baja California.
Now, in the midst of exhaustion; in the midst of impossible situations of families desperate for help; in the midst of economic recession; I humbly ask for your help again. I believe Eternal Anchor is a beacon of God’s hope and love. I believe that the work we are doing is life-changing and life-saving. I could write a book of the amazing things I’ve witnessed and have had the honor of being part of; a book that tells the story of each life saved, each family touched, each individual filled with a new hope that they can be valued and loved in their community. If this book is to have more chapters, we need your help. Donations have been lower than normal and we don’t want to cut any programs that are vital for our community.
Today is our 8-year anniversary and there is so much to celebrate and be thankful for. I am thankful for each of you, for each person we’ve walked alongside and supported together. I am grateful for our committed team of staff and volunteers who sacrifice their time, money, and energy to make sure our children and clients are loved and cared for.
Let us continue this work with passion and conviction together. In the words of Helen Keller: “Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much.”
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for everything you’ve done and continue to do as a part of the Eternal Anchor family.
Sincerely,
Austin

February 2023
Night to Shine welcomes royalty
On February 10, Eternal Anchor rolled out the red carpet to welcome nearly 200 guests to our fourth annual Night to Shine, an event for young people and adults with special needs hosted by Eternal Anchor and sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation. From their personal introductions and walk down the red carpet to the tamale dinner and coronation, Night to Shine was a celebratory and fun experience for our honored guests. Held at the Eternal Anchor Ranch in Lazaro Cardenas, this year’s event featured a professional makeup station, sensory room, festive karaoke area, two photo stations including one featuring a “Hereos” theme, dancing, dinner, and much more.
Without the incredible love and devotion of Eternal Anchor’s teachers, Community Outreach team, and ranch staff this event simply could not happen. We are also grateful for those in our communities who partnered with us to make Night to Shine incredibly special. A group of college students from the Universidad de Ensenada Campus San Quintin welcomed guests along the red carpet, joined them for dinner and dancing, and helped throughout the event. A team of maquillistas – makeup artists – from PANDA AC Educación de Belleza volunteered their time and talents to help make Night to Shine more memorable. Servicio de Meseros – Armenta provided excellent meals and service and New Creation Vineyard Church in Michigan City, Indiana provided the goodies for our honored guests’ gift bags.
“We are so proud to be a part of this global movement that is centered on God’s love for people with special needs,” said Leila Xanat Gomez, Eternal Anchor’s director of Community Development and coordinator for Night to Shine. “As one of just two organizations throughout Mexico to be a host this year, we hope to inspire others in our country to consider hosting next year.”
Eternal Anchor welcomes PT interns
Eternal Anchor’s Community Development team is excited to welcome two physical therapy interns from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, TX. Alyssa Cantu and Victoria Herman – working under the guidance of their professor and Eternal Anchor’s staff volunteer physical therapist, Erin Cottos, will be assisting the Community Development team with in-home assessments, client therapy, mobility equipment construction and modification, and more.
“This internship program is a perfect opportunity for them to experience how physical therapy is delivered in another culture,” said Erin. “They will gain a better understanding and have new perspectives on physical therapy as they graduate and begin practicing on their own.” Alyssa and Victoria, who will graduate in August with their Doctor of Physical Therapy degrees, are the first two of four interns who will spend six-week rotations at Eternal Anchor. “We are very excited to welcome Alyssa and Victoria to the Eternal Anchor family,” said Leila Xanat Gomez, director of Community Development. “We are grateful for the continuation of this partnership between Eternal Anchor and UTMB Health (http://www.utmb.edu) , and we know that experiencing another country and culture will add to each of these intern’s perspectives as they begin their professional careers.”
Deborah earns degree; enters new roll
Deborah Garcia, Eternal Anchor’s co-founder and the person responsible for growing our residential care program over the past eight years begins a new position as Director of Equity and Justice. “Since the beginning of Eternal Anchor, I’ve gained firsthand knowledge of the injustices suffered by those with disabilities,” said Deborah. “As Residential Care Director, I’ve helped defend the rights of the children entrusted to Eternal Anchor and now I will be able to focus my time to advocate for and stand in solidarity with those society has failed. I will be walking alongside these people on behalf of Eternal Anchor in search of hope, solidarity, and community as Jesus taught us to do and focus on addressing the systemic issues that prevent individuals with disabilities from thriving in their communities.” Deborah will continue to be Eternal Anchor’s legal representative, beginning with the adoption cases of children who previously lived in our residential care program.
Earlier this month, Deborah also received her master’s degree in family law from Centro de Estudios Carbonell, one of Mexico’s top law schools. Deborah received her diploma from Justice Juan Luis González Alcántara Carrancá of Mexico’s Supreme Court. “Most of my professors work for the Supreme Court or serve as judges and it’s been an honor to learn from the best,” she said. Deborah has already started classes for a Doctorate in Human Rights and Constitutional Law.

✨ Where hope lives. The latest news from Eternal Anchor.
December 2025
Jared’s Journey, and the Future We’re Anchoring Together
At Eternal Anchor, we believe every child with a disability deserves more than access to education. They deserve a place to grow, to connect, and to be fully seen. That’s what the Anchor the Future campaign is all about. And today, we want to introduce you to one of our students: Jared.
Jared came to Eternal Anchor’s school when he was six years old. Diagnosed with autism at age five, he struggled to communicate, and his mother, Rosalía, wasn’t sure what his future would hold. Then, everything changed. “God is good,” said Rosalía. “God opened the door for us at Eternal Anchor.”
Now 12, Jared is thriving. He’s more independent than ever—learning, building friendships, expressing himself, and using Mexican Sign Language. “I thank the teachers—and God—because it is through God that they are there,” added Rosalía. “I admire the teachers because they are so patient with the children and give them love.”
Watch Jared’s story on our YouTube channel. (https://youtu.be/r3aVfk6pep8?si=_ldzMjhNuMl9QOhg)
Jared is one of 32 students currently enrolled in our inclusive school in the San Quintin Valley. Each of them has their own story of transformation. And each one is counting on our community to keep this life-changing work going.
As we near the end of the year, we’re inviting you to help us close the gap. It takes $15,000 a month to operate Eternal Anchor’s education program. Families contribute what they can, but it still leaves an $11,000 shortfall we must meet every month. And that’s what Anchor the Future is all about.
With less than 30 days to go in our Anchor the Future campaign, your support matters more than ever. Every gift helps cover the ongoing operational costs…things like teacher salaries, classroom materials, utilities, and transportation so children can get to school each day.
Thanks to a generous $50,000 match, every dollar you give today will be doubled, making twice the impact for students like Jared.
▶︎ $50 becomes $100
▶︎ $100 becomes $200
▶︎ $250 becomes $500
▶︎ Every gift helps provide education, inclusion, and hope
If you believe in education that includes everyone…
If you believe every child deserves to learn and grow in a place where they belong…
If you believe hope should be part of every child’s story…
Then this is your moment to help make it happen. Give today, and help anchor the future.
Give today to help Anchor the Future and double your impact (https://givebutter.com/AnchorTheFuture)
Unpaved Roads, Unshakable Purpose
When most people think of Mexico, they picture bustling cities like Mexico City or polished resort towns like Cancún or Cabo San Lucas. But that’s not where we are.
Eternal Anchor is rooted in the rural San Quintin Valley, an agricultural corridor nestled between the mountains and the Pacific Ocean in northern Baja California. It’s a place of natural beauty and deep resilience, where dusty roads stretch for miles and cell service comes and goes. Most homes here are built from concrete block or reclaimed wood, and many families work in the nearby strawberry and tomato fields.
It’s not flashy. It’s not paved. But it’s real. And it’s where hope takes root.
Here, the distances between homes, services, and opportunity are often wide. That’s why our school, therapy center, mobility equipment workshop, and homes for children and adults with disabilities matter so much. Without them, access to education, therapy, and inclusive community simply wouldn’t exist for many of the people we serve.
In this short video (https://youtu.be/5ojoaQICM7w) , you’ll see the San Quintin Valley from above—an unfiltered look at the landscape we call home. The drone footage gives you more than just scenery, it shows where our facilities are located within the broader San Quintin Valley. From our inclusive school and therapy center to our mobility workshop and residential homes, you’ll get a true sense of the distances we navigate, the rural nature of the region, and the quiet resilience of life here.
See where hope takes root in the San Quintin Valley (https://youtu.be/5ojoaQICM7w)

✨ Where hope lives. Where you make it possible.

✨ $50,000. 90 days. Every gift matched.
Anchor the Future
Because Every Child Deserves to Belong
In the rural San Quintin Valley of Mexico, 32 students with disabilities attend a school like no other.
At Eternal Anchor, they learn to communicate using Mexican Sign Language, read, explore the arts, express emotions, develop life skills, and receive exercise and physical therapy. For each of them, it’s the first time they’ve had access to real education and vital support services. The first time they’ve been included. The first time they’ve belonged.
But creating a place where every child belongs requires intentional investment.
It takes $15,000 a month to operate Eternal Anchor’s education program. Families contribute what they can, and some are unable to contribute anything at all. That leaves us with a monthly gap of $11,500. Here’s why that matters: We’re not just offering education; we’re offering belonging, dignity, and a future.
To keep going strong, we launched the Anchor the Future campaign. Our goal: Raise $50,000 by December 31 to help cover the school’s most essential costs. And thanks to a generous matching gift, every dollar you give will be DOUBLED—up to $50,000—in either one-time gifts or new, recurring gifts. And any increase in an current recurring monthly gifts will also be doubled…for 12 months.
Simple Math. Real Impact
Let’s break this down. We have 90 days to raise $50,000. That’s about:
▶︎ $556 per day
And that could look like:
▶︎ 100 people giving $500 each
▶︎ 250 people giving $200 each
▶︎ A $10 increase in recurring giving will result in a $120 match
▶︎ A new $25 recurring monthly gift will mean a $300 match
Anchor the Future isn’t about expansion. It’s about sustainability. It’s about making sure our teachers can keep showing up, our classrooms stay open, and our students continue learning, growing, and being seen.
When we Anchor the Future together, we ensure that students with disabilities aren’t left behind. We make sure they’re seen. Supported. Celebrated. Let’s to this…together.
