Making a difference: Latest updates from Eternal Anchor

Eternal Anchor wants to invite you to come to Baja and partner with us! Collaborating with visiting mission teams and volunteers is an important aspect of our work. Visitors bring fresh energy and excitement to our programs as you help us provide quality services to the children and young adults at Eternal Anchor. You will also learn about the important work being done to alleviate the suffering caused by disability in the San Quintin Valley.

Our passion is to change negative cultural stigmas related to disability; to collaborate with government and non-governmental agencies to improve access to healthcare, education, and community; and to empower people with disabilities who have been marginalized by society so they can reach their God-given potential. Your presence will bless others and your heart will and perspectives will be changed as your return home with a renewed passion for local and global outreach.

We are currently accepting church teams, both short- and long-term interns, as well as individuals and families. Eternal Anchor also has the capability to host your group, alleviating the need to find safe, secure, and clean housing. Deborah Garcia (second from right), Eternal Anchor’s Director of Equality and Justice, was one of just seven women from the San Quintin Valley to be honored as part of a local International Women’s Day event. Deborah and one other recipient were celebrated as female founders of area non-profits. They were joined by three female physicians in positions of authority in healthcare, a female agronomy engineer, and a leading sports promoter. In presenting the awards, representatives from The Foundational Municipal Council of San Quintin and the Commission of Social Welfare, said that through their leadership, courage, tenacity, and empowerment contribute to a better quality of life and sustainable welfare for the entire San Quintin Valley. “It was such an honor to stand alongside six other empowered women who are committed to improving our valley,” said Deborah. Congratulations, Deborah!

Everything costs more these days and a dollar just doesn’t go as far as it used to. But we’ve got some exciting news. Until May 31, every dollar you donate to Eternal Anchor’s education program is actually worth two dollars! Thanks to a generous donor who began a $75,000 matching grant challenge last month, this campaign will match dollar-for-dollar every donation to Eternal Anchor’s education program through May 31, 2023, or until $75,000 in matching donations is reached. This will provide the necessary operating funds for our school for an entire year!

Through our donors, children’s lives are being transformed, giving them and their families hope through the education and therapy services they receive at Eternal Anchor’s school.
